Bicycle

Anybody have a folding bike?

Just wondering what you think about it, do they fold easy? are they comfortable?

I have a bike now, but its not comfortable to ride and I hate the seat, so I thought that a folding bike could be kept in a storage compartment or inside the coach, and they come with a storage bag.

I figure a bike on an outside rack could get wet and dirty and bounced around.

  1. I used to have a few friends that had folding bikes and complained they were too heavy for their size and rode like rocks and the stock seats were horrible. It's possible the new ones are better as this was about 12 years ago and new materials are out.

  4. Hi, we bought a folding bike at Camping World a couple of years ago and love it. It's just perfect for riding around our RV Park in Palm Springs during our 3 months there. It folds up easily and stores in our basement storage area. It's fun to ride and we both find it quite comfortable. I think it sells for around $150.

  5. Good to know about the folding bike. We have looked at them and wondered. It sure is nice to have bikes when traveling, no matter what kind they are. We aren't taking ours to Alaska, however, since they would get graveled to bits as we carry them on the back of the baby car. Another good reason for a folding bike.

  6. There are also electric bikes, you might look into those. I was going to bring my regular bike with me, but decided to sell it in the Estate Sale. I might look into the bike Rick and Paulette got at Camping World. $150 isn't bad. My only problem is it will only fit inside my rig, unless I tie it to the back. I'll be interested in seeing what you decide to do and how it works for you. :)

  7. We have two 6 speed folding bikes from Camping World. First thing we did was replace the seats with gel padded one from WalMart (much better). We ride them all over the campgrounds with Sadie.

That said, they are not great in soft sand (skinny tires) and wear you out on bumpy/lumpy surfaces. But we love them...
