The Path

Cook County, Illinois    LRSH Forest Path     copyrighted photo by JGS 2008

Difficulties are, in fact, the path itself.
They are our opportunity to
wake up out of our little protected world
     they're our opportunity
to awaken into a more genuine way of living.

A critical step is
 "welcoming our distress"
as long as we continue to resist our experience
     we will stay stuck.

What is going on right now?
Can I welcome this as my path?
What is my most believed thought?
What is this?
Can I let this experience just be?

  4. I believe in The Power of Now by Eckert Tolle (sp?)...yesterday was my dad's first bithrday since he passed away...I chose to be happy and made it most of the day. I will do the same for this Father's Day...

  5. Keep heading down that path, you find much joy, adventure, thrills, and some spills. I remember being on a hiking path last summer near the Tetons by myself and coming upon a stream I had to cross. There was a large wet rock in the middle of the stream that I could jump down upon from the bank and leap across to the other side. A voice in my head said don't do it that rock will be slippery, find a different place to cross. Well I jumped, and that rock might as well been a banana peel, because my foot went vertical and I landed flat on my back in the cold stream. I was lucky, though shaken with some minor wounds and wet clothes I went on to enjoy a very memorial Teton hike with moose, spectaclur mountains and yes even beautful streams.

  6. I love those thoughts. Life is hard but we all have to keep plugging along regardless of the cards we are dealt.

  7. I'm a Tolle fan, too.

Sitting with discomfort is hard to remember to do.
