Income Tax Season

Happy Valentine's Day

When I left my old life behind, I needed to figure out "What do I want to do when I grow up?"

I want to travel and meet like-minded souls.  I want to see this country from shore to shore and border to border.

Since 2011, I have work-kamped and volunteered. Currently, I have a really good seasonal job at a CPA office, but I do not like sitting in one place for months at a time.  Last year, I worked at the CPA office from January through April 15th and again from mid-August to October 15th - to finish returns with extensions. I am back again 'til April. It is a good job and I am thankful for this opportunity, working on tax returns again has given me the incentive to make some changes in my life.

I have worked in accounting and taxes since I was a teenager.  I opened my first tax office when I was 26 years old.

Since 2011, I have been floating around, enjoying my travels. But not really focusing on anything. 2016 is my year of Intentional Living.

Workamping has limited the amount of traveling that I do each year. I felt that something was missing. Everyone needs something meaningful to do and helping people with their taxes is something I love to do.

I read the blogs of those that volunteer, that love photography or birding or ??? - to fill their time. I have hobbies like hiking, biking, quilting, reading - but none of these will help me to earn a living. I am not of retirement age and knew I would be working for several years while traveling.

Talking taxes and helping those that don't understand or that just don't want to deal with it - is something that comes naturally to me.

With that said.........

I am going to shamelessly promote myself and my website and Facebook page here.

I am going to rebuild my tax practice - I will operate a Mobile Income Tax Business from the RV.
I always said "I can do taxes anywhere" and now I will.

My "Home" Office

The tax software that I use has several programs that will make this easier.  I can work "in the cloud" and there is a secure portal to use to send and receive data and forms from clients.

Synchronicity: My 1st workamping client is from Alaska - a place I've always wanted to visit. Hmmm, maybe I will have a tour guide, as they return to Alaska every summer.

For those that want to file taxes themselves, there is a link at the top of the page to an affiliate site.
You can click on the link to see the pricing - some returns can be filed for FREE!

If you use this link, I will earn a commission. This is an excellent tax software program.

  1. This is a wonderful idea Teri! Do you read the blog The Travels of Kimbo Polo...or something like that. She is on a lot of sidebars of peoples blog...she has done exactly this with nursing and it has worked on very well for her.

    1. Yes, I read her blog. Encouraging to know others work successfully from their RV.

  2. Why not be in business for yourself with a mobile lifestyle.

  3. This is a great idea Teri. Our taxes are so simple we do them ourselves but lots of people would rather not. I'll for sure pass your name along to anyone on the road that I hear of who hates doing their taxes. Hope you can manage to work and travel rather than have to stay in one place during tax season.

  4. I love this! Next year I'll keep you in mind if I need help filing. I'm pretty basic now, but will sure pass your info along, too. Good luck! This sounds just perfect for you. :)
