The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a beautiful place to live.
But the internet and cell phones do not work very well. If it is a nice sunny day I can get a signal in my RV using my wi-fi booster, but the signal is probably not strong enough to post any pictures. I am not even sure if this short blog post will show up anywhere.
There is a decent wi-fi signal at the General Store, which is a short walk from my RV, I have gone there to post pictures on Facebook using my iPhone. I do not feel like dragging my laptop over there. I think I like the lack of technology and do not feel that it is an important thing to do.
I have gone on a few short hikes, and plan more hikes for my days off work. It is less than a 5 minute walk from my RV to the rim of the canyon. I can sit on the porch of the lodge during my lunch breaks and watch the changes in the weather over the canyon.
I have a huge wooded RV site, so I am very happy to be here.
Your post came thru to me! We have just had five days in Canada when we had to rely on park WiFi that did not reach our coach. I could live without it, but I don't think I would do much blogging. It was the inability to use the internet as a research tool for our ongoing travel plans that had me bummed. I don't use Facebook very often.
ReplyDeleteSignal is lousy where I'm parked too, almost looking at the South Rim. It is nice to be so close to the rim and views.

ReplyDeleteSometimes I would really love to be unhooked from my computer but then I usually need to do some research or pay some bills and then I get really frustrated when it doesn't work. But being at the North Rim would sure help to make it a whole lot nicer. I really like the North Rim.

ReplyDeleteThe one time we don't have internet is when we are camping....I can't imagine camping and thinking I would want to be on the computer. I realize your situation is a little different but honestly...I think people that travel a lot spend too much time being "connected".

ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful. If you can get along without having the Internet available all the time, you can be happy almost anywhere. But DO bring your laptop with you once in a while so we can see the beautiful Grand Canyon photos. :)
