Remember that when you leave this Earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received, only what you have given, a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage. -St. Francis of Assisi

North Rim

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a beautiful place to live.

But the internet and cell phones do not work very well.  If it is a nice sunny day I can get a signal in my RV using my wi-fi booster, but the signal is probably not strong enough to post any pictures. I am not even sure if this short blog post will show up anywhere.

There is a decent wi-fi signal at the General Store, which is a short walk from my RV, I have gone there to post pictures on Facebook using my iPhone.  I do not feel like dragging my laptop over there. I think I like the lack of technology and do not feel that it is an important thing to do.

I have gone on a few short hikes, and plan more hikes for my days off work.  It is less than a 5 minute walk from my RV to the rim of the canyon.  I can sit on the porch of the lodge during my lunch breaks and watch the changes in the weather over the canyon.

I have a huge wooded RV site, so I am very happy to be here.

Good-bye Cody

Plans change ~~~ and I was offered a job at the Grand Canyon, my decision to take the GC job was easy because of some issues at the job in Cody, I knew it was time to leave.  I loved the town of Cody, there is a lot to do and it is a very walkable town.

"I am where I am supposed to be"

I believe all things happen for a reason, so I will just move forward and not worry about the job in Cody. No blame - just move forward. Forgive and forget. I had planned on going to the Grand Canyon in October anyway.

My last day of work in Cody was on Tuesday, August 5th.  I left, as planned, on August 6th to attend a family wedding in Colorado Springs and Sophia's 1st birthday party.

Everything happened fast, I accepted the job and it was almost time to leave for the wedding.

Monday morning, after all the festivities, I left Denver and did not realize, until I was driving through Utah, that the trip from Denver to the North Rim would have me following the route of a road trip that I took with my late husband in May 2009.  I am not going through all the same National Parks and towns, but will be visiting some of the same places and adding a few new stops.

May 2009 was our last road trip together and I had already planned to return to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon on October 4th of this year, to keep my word about something that we talked about on that trip.

This is kind of a dream come true - to live at the Grand Canyon. A short two month job commitment will let me see if I will really like the isolation for more than a few days, and if I do, maybe plan to do a full summer job at the North Rim.

Internet and cell service will be limited, so we will see how I manage with that. With all my traveling over the past 8 days, I am already way behind, so maybe that is a good thing.

I was going to include pictures of Cody in this post, but did not get them organized.  I may add some pictures later.
