Remember that when you leave this Earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received, only what you have given, a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage. -St. Francis of Assisi

A New Day

This morning I realized that I have been waking up earlier than usual, and I went out in the yard to the nice cool, almost fall weather. It feels so much better than the hot, humid, rainy weather we had all summer.

I felt like I could accomplish so much more, getting up early and getting outside in the morning.

While sorting papers today, I found this part of an article that I had cut out of a magazine.

Early in the morning,
it's the start of a new day.
New hopes, new dreams, new ways.
I open up my eyes and I open up my mind and
I wonder how life will surprise me today.

Taking a break

Road Trip

I'll be taking a break from working on the house.

I'm going with my Dad on a mini vacation, not in the coach. The coach is set up for one person only.

He has 3 free nights at a casino hotel.  I'm not a big fan of casinos, but I like to travel - so I will take him on this trip. He does not drive, he has never had a drivers license.

The casino website states that they have a walking/jogging path with exercise stations along the path - I am curious to see what this is about, as I usually go walking while my Dad is in the casino.

Any suggestions for places to stop along the way? I'm sure we will need to stop a few times to stretch our legs.  It's a 5 hour drive straight through on the Interstate, but I figure with taking a few side roads and stopping for lunch it may take as long as 8 hours.

We are going from Chicago to Elizabeth, IN and will take some day trips into Louisville, KY. We will be leaving Tuesday morning and returning on Friday afternoon.

Perseverance

I feel that my house has a never ending
list of stuff to sort, repair, purge, shred.

I get discouraged, it is taking longer than I planned,
with all of the distractions, surprises and unplanned repairs.
I am getting through it.....
The end is in sight.

whenever I have a long "TO DO" list
I think of this phrase

Decide what you want,
decide what you are willing to exchange for it.
Establish your priorities
and go to work.

We are what we repeatedly do.

 is not an act,
but a habit.
Better Habits - One of my GOALS.

Yard Work

Pulled weeds, filled 6 large bags,
and that's only in the front yard - still need to do the side and back.
It's been very hot and wet here - too many things growing wild.

Dug up, divided and transplanted perennials.

Spread around 12 bags of mulch, not enough, will have to get more.

Some workamping jobs are looking
for help with landscaping.
They ask for pictures of "you and your rig".
Should I send pictures of my yard, too?
