Remember that when you leave this Earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received, only what you have given, a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage. -St. Francis of Assisi

A detour before I leave.........

I need to have some work done on the house and the repairmen won't be out to my house until Tuesday. Hopefully it will only take a few hours.

And last weekend, the refrigerator in the house went on strike. On Monday, I called my neighborhood repairman and he diagnosed it as a bad switch, he put in a new switch on Tuesday.

Not a major setback, only $145 total, parts and labor. Not much food lost, luckily the fridge was pretty bare due to my pending departure.

So, hopefully, my new departure date is Thursday, November 3rd.  I keep watching  All of the talk of snow, along with the cold nights, makes me nervous. I want to get away from all of the cold weather.

The movers picked up my daughters things on Tuesday and my family and friends have been here to pick up some items.

All that is in the house now is a bed, a desk and chair, a bookcase and a few lamps. There are several boxes in the garage, some items are being picked up tomorrow and the rest will be donated.

And, I still have several boxes of papers and small items that I am sorting and figuring out what to do with. The other thing I'm having a hard time deciding is "what clothes to take". I don't want to take too much, but don't want to regret leaving something behind. I know I can always pick up clothes anywhere, but its still hard deciding.

I really need to get into the RV and get it all setup and ready to travel, it gets cold here at night and takes awhile to get the chill out, I may need to turn on a small electric heater while I am working in the RV.

I have to go to Car Max and sell my car, I'm still running around getting things taken care of and need the car for a few more days.

Still counting down  5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1.................

  1. I know it's a lot of work, but it's also very exciting.

    Wish it were us.

  2. You're getting closer!! It always ends up being a lot of work. but sounds like you've gotten quite a bit done.

  3. the countdown is getting smaller!!..good for you!

  4. Just a little set back only by 4 days. But I do understand about the weather. Hope it holds out for you.

  5. It's all worth it and will be OK.

  6. You're making good progress...won't be long now.

  7. How exciting! Though I'm sure at the moment it just seems like a lot of work (and frequent visits from Murphy). You have a great looking rig! It looks so clean with the absence of decals.

  8. there is plenty of time so don't rush it... if you need more time make it happen.

  9. It will all happen, just try not to get bent about it. :)

  10. Those last minute details are such a pain. Hope you don't have to make any more "detours" and can leave as planned. Wishing you well.

I'm leaving on Tuesday as planned. Don't see any hold ups on that. Coach is packed, including all food. Getting really excited.

  11. Delays can be so frustrating, but thats what makes the good tomes so good! You sound so exctied to be going and I am excited for you. I have not yet come to the desire to RV full-time, just maybe 8 mo of the year:) I do enjoy my home as well. I might feel different if I had to make a choice between the two....
