Remember that when you leave this Earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received, only what you have given, a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage. -St. Francis of Assisi

Where are you going?

If you don't know
where you are going,
any road will get you there.
-Lewis Carroll

You are exactly where you should be.

What you deem a postponement

 may actually represent
an auspicious opportunity
to prepare for what is yet to come.

If, however,

you feel the universe is pushing
you forward at too fast a clip,
you may be resisting your destiny,
-Daily Om

It is good to have an end to journey towards,
but it is the journey that matters in the end.
-Ursula K. LeGuin

It's getting close to the end of the season here at Mesa Verde National Park and I am spending a lot of time planning where I will be for the winter and next spring and summer. Everyone seems to be counting down the weeks until the Lodge closes (8 weeks).  The National Park stays open all year, but only one small cafe and gift shop will remain open after October 26th.  They do get snow here and I may see some snow before I leave.

I have so many ideas swimming around in my head, I just can't decide where to go or what to do.  I think I will put away all the maps and notes for a few weeks and wait and see what develops.  I am still going to fill out some applications for winter volunteer work and a summer job and then I will wait to see what happens.

Happy Travels - wherever you are going.

  1. The nice thing about not having a destination is that you'll never be lost.

  3. I have an absolute terrible sense of direction but I figure if I don't really know where I am going I can't really get lost. I don't know my plans for sure yet this winter but Arizona is always nice...lots of free boondocking in the beautiful desert and of course I have room for a motorhome for a few days...

  7. Jo did you see the hummingbird in the cloud? ;)

Teri one of the funnest things I do is not plan. I get a kinda direction and head that way and well who knows where I'll end up .., I like it like that .

I have actually made a perfectly good plan and route ... Get up and take a right or left turn whichever I wasn't supposed to and kept going .,

Right now? I -plan- on Port Aransas, Texas for the winter and ... For the Fall? I don't know ... I'm heading for Oregon tomorrow ...

Hope to somewhere along the line we can say hey! ;)

  8. I'm a person who likes to have a plan, but life always throws curve balls along the way. :) I spend many an enjoyable hour perusing my maps and dreaming up places to go.

  9. Lost my comment. Try again. I'm like Judy. I always have a plan but it never usually happens. I love to check out areas we're going to be traveling through and find things to see and do. With Jim's dr. appts we don't have a lot of flexibility but I so agree with your quote that the journey is what matters.

Bill & I just left our "summer" home on Sunday... heading west... we have some specific plans but also lots of "possibles".... it's always interesting to see how it actually shakes out... never been disappointed yet! Life has a wonderful way of just happening... best wishes for your "plans" too!
