Spring Snow Showers in Colorado

Wednesday  May 12th, 2011     Cold, wet Colorado

We were in the mountains from Friday thru yesterday.
Today we woke up to some light snow showers mixed with rain. The foothills and mountains are getting more snow. We had tickets to the Colorado Rockies Baseball Game for today, but the game has been cancelled. We will stay around the house today and tomorrow.

The kids were talking about some of the recipes that Grandpa makes, so he will make some homemade fried rice for them tonite, using a recipe from when he was a cook on the aircraft carrier, "Valley Forge".

We were looking for "Tatanka", but they were not cooperating this week. The Rocky Mountain Arsenal is a Wildlife Refuge and the only way to see the buffalo is to go on a guided bus tour, the dates and times were not convenient to the other events we had planned.
We drove to a "Buffalo Overlook" area near Genesee, we were not able to get close enough to get any pictures.

The mountain towns we visited: Black Hawk, Genesee, Golden, Morrison and Evergreen and the Red Rocks Area.

  1. I've never been to Colorado but I sure enjoyed your photos. At least you had some blue sky there for awhile. Hope it warms up for you.

  2. I wouldn't mind some of that cold weather right now. It's getting really hot here.

  3. North Rim had snow but I only saw a little rain west of Flagstaff this afternoon.

Looks like you're finding some beautiful places to explore.

  5. Tatanka is the name of the buffalo ranch near us. I guess I better go look that up.
