The Beginning of the week.......

What day starts the week?

Many of my blog readers are retired or working part time - but do you consider Sunday or Monday the beginning of the week?

I have been self-employed for many years, so I don't have a regular work schedule. I am now working part-time at a tax office, but I am able to pick my own hours.

I was looking over my appointments for the week, and I am also starting to keep track of how much time I spend walking or exercising. I want to track the number of hours per week that I do these activities, and a thought came up. Do I start with Sunday or Monday?

In the past, I had some calendars that started the week with Monday and I was always putting the appointments on the wrong day, because I didn't look at the date at the top of the square, I just looked at the squares to figure where the day was. But the days were in the wrong place.

So, I say Sunday is the beginning of the week, but someone that only has Sat and Sun off work, probably says Monday starts the week.

Ok, so this may be a wierd way of thinking about things, but thats how I am. After all, I am living in "Teri World".

  2. European calendars start with Monday and American calendars start with Sunday.

I too am self employed. There is no beginning and no end!

  3. Has always been Monday for me regardless of what I was doing or where I was at. Don't figure that is going to change any time soon....

  4. When I'm working my Monday could fall on Thursday. When I'm not working, it just don't make any difference.

  5. I think it's because I think of the beginning of the week as the first workday - because Monday always seems like the first day to me. When I retire, I'll let you know if it changes. LOL

  6. Right now my work week starts on Tuesday. I guess the beginning of the week changes depending on where I'm volunteering. When I take this summer off, I'm guessing it will move back to Monday for me. :)

  7. Monday for me as I always had to go to work on Monday. I still like Saturday and Sundays as they aren't "business" days ... especially since D died I have hated the business stuff. This from some one who worked with numbers and was a numbers person for years. I think I've done a flip and flopped over to the artsy side now.

  8. That is a good question! I got a calendar like that once myself, and had to stop using it for the exact same reason.
