Remember that when you leave this Earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received, only what you have given, a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage. -St. Francis of Assisi

Peace of Mind

PEACE OF MIND
The absence of mental stress or anxiety
and the presence of serenity, calm,
quiet, comfort of mind,
inner peace.

My head is spinning, toooo many RV's for sale everywhere, on vacant lots, craigslist, Ebay, all of the local and not so local RV dealers.  Thousands and thousands of RV's for sale.

I understand that life is not all rosy, and there are no guarantees, and that things will break and that life will go on.  I have usually been fortunate enough to be able to roll with the punches, to be able to pick myself up, dust myself off and move on.

I may use this blog to vent, but that is all part of the process.

I am taking a break from looking, allowing myself to digest all of the info that I have accumulated about different classes of RV's, different engine sizes, slide or no slide, sleeping and bathroom arrangements.  I know what I like and what I don't like. The goal is to get one with the features I like, without busting the budget.

I am still young, and don't want to work fulltime - so I have to stretch the funds I have, and don't want to squander whatever proceeds I will get from the sale of my home.

I could worry less about money by getting a full time job or building up another tax practice, but my heart is just not in doing that at this time. Maybe down the road, I will find a place to settle down, for now I want to wander.

I do appreciate all of the input from everyone, everyone has their own likes and dislikes and what is good for someone else is not necessarily good for me.  Keep telling me your thoughts because it does help to hear about your experiences. It helps me to remember that there will be challenges along the way. I enjoy reading about all of your journeys and joys and even the misfortunes, they don't stop you.  You are still out there and did not let those things stop you from your journey.

The weather is cruddy today, raining and thunder, can't go and look at RV's anyway.  They are usually closed on Sunday, but one dealer was having a special event and would be open today.

I am going to pack up some boxes and move them out to the garage for my upcoming garage sale, I will spend today sorting through clothes and other things and setting aside the things that I will keep.

Thanks for listening...........
I hope everyone has a good day.

  3. Thats the great thing about blogging. You can bounce your thoughts off of a lot of people and rarely get any criticism for it.

At 53 you do have time.

    Do what feels best.

Have you considered taking a trip in a rented RV?

  4. It is good to take some time to get other things going and think about what you have seen so far. I saw pictures on one of your blogs that looked like a really nice rig, it had the rear bathroom. Boy I sure liked that one. I have the corner bed and I hate that thing. today they had 2011 RV show on HGTV and nothing really impressed me. But hey I am not in the market anyway.
Just enjoy they say when the right one comes along you will know. Like I said I bought mine because the price was really good. But even with that bed I am still happy to have her.:)

  5. I looked for almost 6 years to find the 5er I recently bought because I knew what I wanted and how much I could spend. Glad you can vent here and get positive feedback. But only you can make that final choice. Days off are always good.

  6. Boy do I ever understand where you are coming from. If you go back to my first blog and my first searches, you'll see me going through the same things. Initially I thought I wanted a truck and toy hauler. In the end I paid cash for a used Class C and a small utility trailer for my motorcycle.

I spent $25k on the RV and it was in very good shape, esp for its age. It also had some good extras that I would have added like levelers and backup camera.

I added another $12-15k on upgrades and major issues like new tires and airbags, solar and TV dome, but ended up with a very reliable and comfortable RV for me.

Did I think in the beginning that this was what I wanted or needed? No way. Was I happy with it? Very!!

Keep reading, researching and especially visiting RVs. Walk through them going through your daily activities. Try to spend 1-2 hrs in an RV floorplan that interests you. Think about everything you do in a day and walk through those motions...including standing in the shower and pretending to wash your hair and shave your legs.

Same for the bathroom...I sat on one toilet where I couldn't move the door once sitting. Jeesh! LOL!

There are some real bargains out there now. Keep looking and the right one will appear. I know ladies who have rushed into a rig, after a couple of months realized it was more than they wanted to deal with and had to trade..more money out.

Like you, my passion for work was gone after I lost my husband. I used to think I'd never fully retire. Now I hope I never have to go back to work!
